On an unrelated note, we got back an essay (a very poor one) mentionning in the conclusion that "I did not quite understand the instruction and therefore could not quite do the work".
Do I need to mention that the TA spent 4 hours in the computer room with the students, being available for explanations and that she and myself are generally open to question and discussion? I can imagine that one does not understand the instruction, but I do not accept that as an a posteriori excuse for shitty work. I mean, in third year?
